We spent the last 4 days in Colorado spending time with friends and family. Now we are on the road headed to California to meetup with the folks on The Treffen Cruise. Our goal is to drive from Frisco Colorado to Adel Oregon today... We are ambitious, we will see how far we go.
Here are some memorable moments in the bus:
As we were leaving Canon City, Colorado on route to my family's property (located near Guffy), the bus started to cut out on hills, we figured it wasnt getting gas and it could be one of several options failing. After narrowing down the options, we concluded it was a fuel pump. Luckily, we travel with all the important replacement parts. We reached for the new fuel pump only to find that the new pump didnt work. At this point all the local parts stores were closed and we were literally spending "the night on the road."
The next day we were "further down the road" with our new electronic fuel pump. We had a great time white water rafting through the Royal Gorge, visiting the swimming hole at Guffy Gorge, and hanging out with friends and family. On day two we decided to drive to Fairplay for lunch and then find camping near lake Dillon. We were lucky to find the last campsite available out of 87 reserved sites.
The temps would drop to the mid 30's at night and get into the high 80's during the day.
We spent two nights at Peak One campground, enjoying local hiking, free concerts in the park, and a visit to Breckenridge. We wished there had been showers at the campground, now we smell like dirty hippies.
This next set of images are details from our travels. Things you do when you have 14 hours of travel time in a bus.
